Top 25... somethings

Seriously, I see all these blog posts, articles, etc. listing their top 25 of something or other all the time... so I'm just going to list my top comedies of all time in descending order and tell a quote/memory or two about each one.  Perhaps a favorite line, scene, where I was or who I was when I saw it... that sort of thing.  If anyone actually reads this thing let me know which classics I stupidly overlooked, or if there are movies you hate that made the list.  So I'm expecting maybe, 1 or 2 comments max.  Ha.

25)  Austin Powers - there was/is a running joke involving what I did while watching this movie at Sterling Ridge back in the day... that pretty much sums it up.  The 2 sequels were crap compared to the campy-ness and writing of the original.
24)  Trading Places - The beginning of every $1 bet joke ever
23)  The Naked Gun - a great spoof flick from the 80's when spoof flicks didn't completely and totally suck.  I remember being introduced to Leslie Nielsen films by my mom on snow days and during the teachers strike when I was like 10.  Great stuff.
22)  Van Wilder - Ryan Reynolds was hilarious, and that crazy blond chick used to look good... it also had a spin-off starring that guy who played Kumar that was fucking awful.
21)  Boondock Saints - while not "technically" a comedy... it makes me laugh and is infinitely quotable.  "Why'd you kill my cat" "I thought it would bring closure to our relationship."
20) Princess Bride - Rodents of unusual size?  I don't believe they exist.  Miracle Max.  Fred Savage.  The dude from Columbo.  "My name is Inigo Montoya, you kill my father, prepare to die."
19) Trading Places - I think this was my first actual "R" rated comedy I just KNEW was edited for tv.  "C'mon mom he didn't say mess you, he said fuck you," and then a quarter went in the swear jar, I knew I was right, and I loved all the 80's Eddie Murphy movies ever since... too bad he had to go and make movies after the year 2000.
19) Major League - He may run like Mays, but he hits like Shit.  Wesley Snipes was funny, Corbin Bernsen wasn't in "Raptor IV" or "Raptor Island" or whatever  the fuck it was called that I MST3Kd on the couch at sterling ridge sophomore year of college... ah... memories.
18) Beverly Hills Cop - Just ridiculous Eddie Murphy at his leather clad stand up best.
17) Superbad - I love my best friend, boop.
16) Ghostbusters - It's true sir, this man has no dick.

15) Groundhog Day - The ways he used to kill himself in hope of ending the cycle were pretty ridiculous, as was a lot of other things from this movie... haven't seen it in a really long time but remember it quite fondly nonetheless.

14) South Park - Animated. R rated. Some peoples parents (not mine) looked down on the program and especially on letting their kids go see it in theaters.  Another moment looking back that I appreciated my parents being open about a lot of things - letting me choose to be religious or not, being ok if I had white friends, black friends, tan friends, green friends, imaginary friends...etc.

13) Super Troopers - This movie was amazing the first time I saw it.  The joke "gimme a large Farvuh" is still hilarious... too bad they went and made that stupid beach resort horror flick... but at least they redeemed with the almost as awesome Beerfest (should that be on this list...?  Fuck... probably)
12) 40-Year Old Virgin - One of the many awesome 2000-ish time frame R-rated comedies that reminded everyone of the wonder years of Beverly Hills Cop, Animal House, and Mel Brooks films that said what people were really thinking instead of editing it down "for tv" in a sense.
11) Wedding Crashers - Possibly the most quoted movie amongst my group of friends when for whatever reason we decide to hang out together in large groups.

10) Hangover - Just... awesome.  More situational than quotable but infinitely rewatchable... let's hope the sequel is more Ghostbusters II than Caddyshack II... ugh.  Wait... Caddyshack, how did I forget that?  10a - Caddyshack.  Great great film during Bill Murray's run of awesomeness.  "If we kill all the golfers they'll put me away" "GOPHERS, not golfers you great git"

9) Robin Hood: Men in Tights - Nothing like a lot of sexual innuendo, Dave Chappelle playing someone named AhChoo and the fact that my mom took me to see this in theaters... yeah... I was/am a momma's boy, but at least she had a good sense of humor and taste in film.

8) Animal House - FOOD FIGHT! Oh Jon Belushi, you silly drunk.
7) Spaceballs - There is but one thing to say here - "Keep firing, assholes!"
6) Old School - You may be asking yourself, why is there a cinder block tied to a rope, and why is the other end tied securely to your penis. Howard from Big Bang sighting as a frat boy.  Classic Vince Vaughn jokes.  Will Ferrell crazy as shit.  Just awesome.  Plus Jeremy Piven in a great small role.
5) Anchorman - Possibly the most quoted movie of all time... because it is hilarious every time I watch it.  And there have been a lot of times.

4) Office Space - Not a lot of big names in the movie, but they all played their parts perfectly.  Nothing like stomping the shit out of a printer that keeps jamming.  Many a day I have day-dreamed of exacting my revenge on several pieces of office equipment... including some ex-employees.  Kidding! ... probably.

3) Monty Python and the Holy Grail - if you know me, you know I love this fucking movie.  You know I watched this when I was like 10 and then went on a stupid kick of watching all the Monty Python movies, Flying Circus episodes, and have a giant 6 CD collectors set of all the old sketches.  Yeah... this happened, and it's why to this day I do a fantastic English accent.

2) Blazing Saddles - Well, since you are my guest, and I am your host... what would you like to do?   Oh... I don't know... drink... play chess... screw?  Well... let's play chess.
1) Airplane! - surely... you can't be serious.
I am serious. And don't call me Shirley.

All quotes are completely from memory, I did ZERO imdb research on any of this... so if it is wrong... eh... my bad.

... so it goes...
